BEESWAX — A Short Film

My first ever short film! This project was created for a university course, Film Practices, and I’m pretty pleased with how it ended up. It was the first time I had to collaborate with a big group on a creative project of this scale, and it was both rewarding and a tad overwhelming at times. There were plenty of problems with our production, from creative differences to scheduling to frustrated cast members, but it all resulted in quite a fun short film to watch nonetheless. It’s meant to be inspired by Tim Burton, hence the over/under-saturated colors, old man voice-over, and eerie font. All in all, having to assemble this entire project myself with the guidance and instructions of the others in my group, it was something I can look back on fondly, despite knowing it’s far from perfect.

PREMIERE TIMELINE

For all you editing nerds who’re all like “ooh that’s not even impressive, that doesn’t mean anything!” First off, that’s rude and it hurts my feelings. Quit it. Second, at the time, I thought it was pretty darn impressive. Now, less so (but still a little). And third, as you can tell from my too-many sequences, this was only one sequence. The others all would’ve blown your socks off, just trust me.

Also, to explain the red, 2022 Owen was foolish and decided not to save lots of audio and video onto my hard drive and instead often kept them on his desktop. When I got the laptop I use currently, it seems many of these AV files were lost in the transition. Rest in peace to these files, and please keep in mind modern day Owen wouldn’t do such a thing.
