THE CHIMERA ANT ARC x “THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL”
It should be noted that Hunter x Hunter is, most likely, my favorite piece of fiction of all time. It should be noted, too, that the “Chimera Ant” arc in Hunter x Hunter is, undeniably, my favorite anime arc of all time. Making an edit of it was an inevitability. So, with ABBA’s “The Winner Takes It All” making the rounds on TikTok, I noticed that many of the lyrics seemed to fit so well the characters and developments that occur in that arc.
Put short — I had a vision I had to see through.
Frankly, I think this is my most TikTok-ified edit yet, and I’m quite happy with how it turned out. The high quality, the lyrics appearing on screen and the syncing with the melody make it suitable for the TikTok edit environment — and people noticed. Not to mention my combination of an isolated vocals version of the song with an orchestral cover backing it, I think that added an epic boost to an already tragically grandiose tune.
Tangled x Sabrina
Every time I was watching the series The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, this lovely song would play called “Sabrina and Harvey” anytime those two characters were onscreen together. Seeing as I think Tangled is one of the most romantic movies ever made and how much I adore the lantern scene specifically, I figured it’d be nice to make a cute edit with the two.
ERWIN SMITH x “THE LAST AGNI KAI”
First off: Massive spoilers for Attack on Titan! Okay now that that’s out of the way… I love Commander Erwin’s character. He’s so profoundly complex and tragic that I only thought it right to put it alongside the score from one of the most complex and tragic fight scenes in a different series — Avatar: The Last Airbender. The edit itself isn’t groundbreaking, but it isn’t really meant to be. It’s merely an attempt to encapsulate a solid portion of Erwin’s character using his most crucial scenes in the series. I , too, would charge to my death for him.
Rogue One x “As The World Caves In”
Around the time I made this (i.e sometime in 2021), a beautiful cover of the song “As The World Caves In” was being used in just about every edit that you came across on TikTok, and I wasn’t complaining. The lyrics and melody lent itself so well to these terribly tragic scenes and characters. As I had always loved Rogue One and its entirely bittersweet ending, I thought the song fit it incredibly well.

Like I said, the song was everywhere. I couldn’t get it or the ideas it gave me out of my head, so I just had to see them through. I’m a big fan of the music crescendo aligning with the blood splatter, as well as Killua’s scream matching with the word “world”. To be honest, it’s hard to make a bad edit with this song.
