One of my newest and most exciting endeavors has been learning the 3D software, Blender. For so long, it seemed like an insurmountable idea — being able to make entire 3D scenes purely from my own imagination. However, after taking just a little bit of time to learn the basics of the software (and watching more than my fair share of tutorials), I was able to make some pretty cool projects.

A Dreamscape Field

Yeah, I got a thing for liminal, dream-core stuff, as you can see. This was relatively simple to make, but it turned out wonderfully nonetheless. It was my first time experimenting with grass and wind effects, too, so that was quite exciting, if not also a bit intimidating.

A Gothic Scene

This was pretty rewarding to make, but also the most complex. This was the first time I experimented with fog/mist, and it wasn’t easy. I’d mimic YouTube tutorials and something would still go wrong on my end, and I’d need to dig through my software to find out exactly why. Regardless, the end product was exactly how I pictured it in my head, and I’m quite proud of it. It’s eerie, liminal, and gothic. My favorite details are the purple moon and background music, as they just match the atmosphere incredibly well.

A Spooky Hallway...

My first project on Blender that I made of my own imagination. I had done that 20-step donut tutorial on YouTube, yes, but this was the first project I took on simply because I had an artistic vision I wanted to see through. The result was pretty good!

A Liminal Office

Probably my favorite thus far. It came out exactly how I wanted it to, very Backrooms-esque. The VHS effect + distant oldies music added in post was a nice touch, too.
